How A Blogger Becomes The Story and a Celebrity

Some people wanted to know why that last post featuring David Hasselhoff was up for so long. Truthfully, I can’t see why anyone would wonder that. I mean, this is David Hasselhoff, people! Anytime a blog is lucky enough to mention this man that blog’s social and geopolitical influence rockets throughout the blogosphere, thrusting it instantly into the heart of worldwide conciousness. The author’s views, leanings and commentary are suddenly taken as gospel truth as BILLIONS of people take notice when the traditional media report on the latest site that favorably mentions such an icon that is the one, the only, *THE* David Hasselhoff.

Immediately after posting about the man, the legend, the phenomenon in the last entry titled Hooked on a Feeling, the “Hasselhoff Effect” hit this poor, unknown blog full-on. People the world over who would have never found this place came in droves as their searches for david hasselhoff, hooked on a feeling, hasselhoff video, ooga chacka, and the inevitable photoshop breasts search term lead them straight (and unexpectedly) here.

The catapult of an unknown blogger, such as myself, into instant celebrity status is also helped as traditional, well respected old-school media outlets report on the latest Hasselhoff blog mention. As the news of the mention is reported around the world’s television sets by powerhouses such as CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC and most importantly Hannity and Colmes, the slow news day stories like the War in Iraq, the upcoming Avian Bird Flu pandemic and Ann Coulter’s latest babblings are quickly forgotten as a formerly unknown blogger takes the center stage.

You know the story by now. Blog mentions David Hasselhoff. People find blog searching for David Hasselhoff. They tell their friends. Their friends tell their friends. The link to the blog mentioning David Hasselhoff is passed around more than Madonna’s lips in the back of a limo. The media gets ahold of the story. Media reports on the story. The blogger and his blog becomes a celebrity. He/she is interviewed on Larry King, The Daily Show, Hannity and Colmes and also appears as a guest cohost of The View trading insults with Joy Behar. People who worship *THE* David Hasselhoff also starts to worship the blog that mentions their leader in all his joyous rapture. Site traffic goes through the roof, servers lag, the Internet itself goes down due to the strain, the various interviews, the phone calls, the limo rides, scheduled appearances with Paris Hilton and assorted A List celebs. Etc. etc. etc. In short, the “Hasselhoff Effect” takes place for that blogger and blog until the next site mentions He Who Already Has Been Named, aka David Hasselhoff.

So you see kids, that’s why the last post was up so long, exploiting the popularity that comes with talking about you-know-who (pssst!, David Hasselhoff, pssst!). Happy now?

Thoughts of the Day: Toilet paper that’s biodegradable should not degrade before you’re done taking care of business and if you make less than a McDonald’s worker it’s time to re-evaluate your life. Call David Hasselhoff, he can help!

The Knight Industries Two Thousand does not sing and always deferred to the beauty, the wonder, the splendor that is David Hasselhoff. Mr. Hasselhodff is king of all things and fortunately not type-cast in one role like K.I.T.T.; who alas despite hiring the best image makeover team in Hollywood was only known as "the talking car." After a bout with depression, p0rn, drugs and loose trailer hitches, K.I.T.T. sold all the rights to his story for 2 pints of Mobil One Synthetic oil...

You sure about this Vinnie? You know how the last post was recieved by the readers. I hate to say this, but I still think David Hasslehoff can't sing. Act, sure. But the Hasslehoff sing? Don't make me laugh. Seriously, don't make me laugh.

Sue,

You just had to encourage Vinnie didn't you? Vinnie, there hasn't been a talking car showing up in my driveway, threatening to run me over unless I take my previous statement back. Now as for your new stardom, congrats. But what's the next blog about? Silly penguins dancing? Or maybe how Darci's new notebook makes you want to get a new one? Surprise us! We expect a little tongue in cheek humor from you Vinnie.

The next blog entry will be about peanuts and the last time I did tongue in cheek, the lady screamed.

Chris,

I'm not evil, I just don't think The Hasselhoff can sing. I think he can act, sure. But that's all I'm gonna say now. *running away*

So I'm The Shannon now? Hmm, luckily I know this is done in a sense of humor. Life is dull if you can't laugh at things going on. Carry on Technophiles.

I have met a few Shannon's in my time and you are most definitey the benchmark that all Shannons should be measured by. The best of the best is *the*

Thanks Vinnie. Now as for the rest of you, lets see what you get your dad for Father's day. Vinnie doesn't have to worry, being born was enough for his dad.
