CES 2007 Day 1: DL.TV

Today was Press Day at CES, a day where before the show starts there’s all sorts of meetings, press conferences and demonstrations for members of the press. While I was there I went to DL.TV’s first taping. Here I got to catch up with some old friends like Jim Louderback, Robert Heron, Patrick Norton and Roger Chang and watch them tape their first show at this year’s CES.

To view my photo-essay saunter on over to my CES 2007 photo album. Enjoy!

Vinnie,

Your captions made me LOL. Nice photos. Now you gotta rib Jim Louderback over that Vista Laptop. :D

You're welcome guys. Had some time to talk and catch up with Robert and Patrick today. I'm a little too tired to post the pics but I will tomorrow. Also got to see and talk to John C. Dvorak as well so I'm a happy boy. Plus I got to see some shiny gadgets... drool... and some quad cpus and some new upcoming games. Happy happy boy!

envious, envious girl! Wish I was there. Geek heaven :D And nice pics... thanks for allowing me to live vicariously.

As long as people live vicariously through me instead of running me through, hey, I'm OK with that. I'm debating today on taking the day off to recharge and sweep through more of the show the next day refreshed, or just pop in to see Pat and Robert tape DL.TV again. Pros. Cons. Perriwinkles. Nightmares. Buffalo Wings... oh my.

No problem Chris, I thought it was funny and will change your comment to reflect who it came from. Just don't do it again and I'll eventually mail back your dog...

Vinnie,

You can keep my dog. Now as for those new gadgets at CES, don't hog all of them. Show them to us, unofficial CES reporter. Now as for the ZD crew, let Leo Laporte suffer by not being part of that happy gang. He can now pick and choose who he works for, but I bet he's misarble.

Ill be good I promise but I mean it they should hire you! You're our official unofficial insider geek reporter and wed follow you anywhere! HIRE VIN! HIRE VIN! (ok ill stop now I want my dog back)

Shannon: there are tons of Vista running laptops and desktops as far as the eye can see. As to ribbing Jim for whapping that UWB docking station off the table, well, that's what makes a Jim demo a Jim demo! (plus I already had fun with the captions to the pics of Day 1 CES I put up). Also I won't take someone's dog if they want me to take it - what's the fun in that?

Chris: thanks for the high praise, but if they hired me, who'd be your unofficial personal reporter? :-) Also, I'd be late to work every day commuting from Las Vegas to San Francisco and I doubt Jim'd let me write off daily flights back and forth between home and work *grin* PS. Here's your dog.

Vinnie--I wanted to ensure everybody saw your pics so I started a CES thread in the DL.TV forums, posted a few of your pics and your link--hope that's ok!
January 10, 2007 @ 01:54PM
Why thank you Suzie! I wish I put them all up but I will soon this week get all the days put together for everyone's enjoyment. I just came back from CES (tiring day) and at the end watched them tape their last DL.TV episode at CES 2007. You'll probably hear the audience screaming or having fun at several points, one of those voices is me. :-)

Vinnie,

Bad news. My dad's satellite internet decided to go nuts, so rather than wait for it to be fixed, I went back to Dialup. Heck, it's all I can get around here that's cheap. My new dialup is 9.95 a month with free unlimited tech support. There is no high-speed internet around here, unless you move into the nearest little town we got around here (Benton, KY).
January 13, 2007 @ 12:30PM
Chris/Kyle/everyone: thanks for the DLTV should hire me chants, it's an honor just to be nominated. Seriously, it was great seeing Jim Louderback, Robert Heron, Patrick and Roger (as well as Scott and the rest of the gang) but if there was a job over there that they thought I'd be perfect for, Jim or someone would have told me about it and I'd be there. There's a dirth of good people that actually LIVE in San Francisco for them to pick from so why would they be looking for this wacky-boy from Vegas? They're good people, we all seem to enjoy catching up once a year when they come down and that's cool. Great people there, love seeing them when they come to town.

Shannon: Sorry to hear about the dialup, let us know when they get the satellite fixed and we'll refrain from redoing the site in FLASH until then...

Vinnie,

Will have dialup until 2010 (my guess when dsl wil be available out here in the sticks). So go ahead and do your flash website. :D
January 14, 2007 @ 11:06AM
Flash the website? Hello public decency charges!

I didn't think there was public display involved in putting Adobe Flash on your website. See what I know? :D
