Thank You Office Depot for the Cheap DVDs!

Tons of Cheap DVDsI heard about a good deal Office Depot was having this week on blank Maxell DVDs and even though I had 150 blanks left, 75% off list price was too good a deal to pass up so I ordered 200. As my friends know, I never pay more than 20 cents per dvd, often far less than that (with no stupid rebates, either). I’ve tried all kinds of media and really like Office Depot’s store brand, especially since they constantly go on sale for $7.99 for 50 every month or so. However, that being said, I couldn’t resist the Maxell’s they had on sale this week for $6 a 50 pack (which comes to 12 cents per DVD); a great deal.

After being notified my order was ready at the store for pickup I got in my car (sorry, no teleporter, it’s broken) and got my 200 Maxells (total = 25.48 w/the tax). Not bad at all! I thanked the cashier and headed out the door with a smile. After loading my nice find of cheap good DVDs, I remembered passing a few clearance carts and thought it best to go have a look.

Which is a good thing too, because what did I find? 3 100 packs of Imation brand DVD +Rs for $2 a pop and a 2 gigabyte Kingston Readyboost enabled thumb drive for $10!

I was a little shocked at my newfound booty and even asked the cashier if the prices were correct in the clearance carts, which she confirmed. “Yes sir,” she said, “we’re having a large clearance to get rid of some merchandise.”

Still a tad shocked at my even better fortune I lifted up the DVDs and said “these are really $2 each?” (head nod from cashier) “and this is really $10?” (another head nod.)

So I put the stuff on the counter, she rung up my 300 DVDs for $6 and my 2GB Thumb Drive for $10 and off I went even happier than when I picked up my 200 Maxell DVDs for $25 about four minutes ago!

I really don’t think I’ll be needing any more blank DVDs for a loooong time… :>>

THANK YOU OFFICE DEPOT!

UPDATE: Went back to the same store two days later (today) and snagged 2 USB Hard Drive Enclosures (normally priced $35) for $2 each! Me likies their $2 cart big-time! ;)

We bow at the feet of Office Depot. May their deals live long and prosper. Vinnie, I got a deal on a 75-pack dvd-rs and 25-pack cd-rs combined into one dvd spindle case of 100 a while back at office depot, and am supposed to get a rebate check of 12 dollars in a few weeks. Happy Happy Me! :>>

Sounds great Shannon! Me, I'm really on the fence about going back to Office Depot and picking up a 19" LCD for $129.99 after a $70 rebate. It looks to be a good unit and it's not widescreen (which I HATE) so I'm really thinking about it. The 19" Hanns-G has good reviews and has both a DVI and VGA hookup. Which means I can switch between my 2 computers with ease *drool*

Chris: I got some more >:XXing great deals today. I went back to the same Office Depot I got the $2 100 packs of DVDs and nabbed 2 USB 2.0 Hard Drive enclosures for $4! (2 bucks apiece for enclosures that cost over $30!) That's over $60+ in savings, kids! Ka-chinnng! Yeah, baby, yeah!

Vinnie,

I think Gweeptish is a bit envious of your good luck at Office Depot. True Office Depot has great deals, but you have to look for them or you miss it. Yes you have to get a Office Depot flyer via your local newspaper or the internet, otherwise don't blame Vinnie and me if you just missed a deal that was soooo sweet!

blue: there's only the one out of like 7 Office Depot stores that is being so great to me, all others are just like yours so don't feel bad we're almost in the same boat :p

Gweep: I share the wonders, the beauty and the good fortune that is mine with you. I am sharing! :>>

Timbo: you're welcome!

And if you think that's "bad" there were a lot of people on the internet that ordered a LOT of the 75% off on Maxell DVDs and due to a computer glitch got all of their DVDs for free and were only charged a small $8 shipping fee. Some people got 50-70 50 packs of DVDs for $8 TOTAL!

(I'm sure most of them were honest and contacted their stores to inform them of the error |-|)

Vinnie,

Went to Ecost.com yesterday and snagged a Superman Returns Media Reader for 14 dollars (Free after rebate). You could probably find a cheaper media reader at OfficeDepot, but it won't have the Superman logo. :>>
July 6, 2007 @ 06:19AM
So true, Shannon. I'd definitely pay more than $2 for the superman tatoo! Go supes, go! :D

Just bought 4 Toshiba 1Gb SD cards from Office Max - $2.99 each. An "unadvertised special" this week (no such thing on the net thanks to deal sites). Stuck them in the 15% off bag that comes with the paper - $2.54 each. Sweet!
