New Year's Resolution: 365 Posts About Computers and Technology in a Single Year!

The family and I recently sat down to watch a really enjoyable flick, called Julie & Julie the other day and I couldn’t help be a little inspired. See, in the early days of blogging, this lady who wanted to be a writer decided to start a blog to talk about her quest to cook all the recipes from Julia Child’s iconic and revolutionary cookbook/tome, Mastering the Art of French Cooking in a single year. This woman, on a whim to some extent decided to attempting cooking all 524 recipes from Julia Child’s book, in 365 days, quite a challenge!

If you don’t know the story, go get the DVD Julie & Julia. You’ll love it. We sure did. Heck, afterwards read her original blog here (The Julie/Julia Project - Nobody here but us servantless American cooks… ), it’s great stuff!

This quite adventurous woman one day set a goal, out of nowhere for herself and did something quite unusual and it paid off great for her efforts.

So what do I want to do now? What did this story inspire me to do?

I already have a blog.
I have next to zero skills at cooking. (Well, save for a recent interest in starting to learn how to make cookies)
I’m a guy.
While I have been called a writer before and I have written stuff over the years, I don’t aspire to be that serious about writing or want people to call me one.
I’m not looking for a potential payoff from my labors. I’m not starting this project for a potential payoff of money, fame, glory or a better job. I’m doing this because I think it will be fun.
Last but certainly not least, I’m a tad, well, some say… insane.

So here is my challenge to myself. For the whole year I will write at least one blog entry about computers and technology for every day of the year. That’s 365 blog entries to do with computers and tech by the end of the year to go. Starting yesterday. Hopefully I will manage to color these comp/tech posts with my own special glug! glug! glug! brand of “humor” that I first started this blog with. We’ll see.

Note: that doesn’t mean there will be a blog post every day about computers, but an average over the year of one post per day. 365 posts in total is the goal for the whole year.

So let’s begin, shall we?

Tomorrow. I’m taking a break.
