So now that you have a way of creating virtual CD and DVD drives with ISO Recorder (see last post), you’ll need a program so your computer will know how to use them. Introducing the application that I consider the best for the job, Slysoft’s Virtual CloneDrive.
This free utility supports up to 8 virtual drives at the same time and is very easy to use. To mount a virtual DVD or CD couldn’t be simpler with Virtual CloneDrive. Just double-click the file or set it to pre-load up to 8 virtual drives at a time when your computer boots up.
I usually use Virtual CloneDrive to load up my family’s game discs so they don’t have to go searching for a particular one every time they switch games. Each virtual drive consumes so little memory the program won’t slow down even older computers. And better yet, a nice benefit of using virtual drives is that the access time is much faster; as fast as your hard drive compared to slower optical drive read speeds.
Virtual CloneDrive supports the most common virtual image formats such as iso, bin, CCD and again, it’s free from Slysoft. So if you’re looking for a program to load virtual CDs and DVDs, look no further than Virtual CloneDrive.
Looking further is rude and you don’t want to be rude, do you? Do you? I didn’t think so.
