How to Choose Between a Mac or PC

The PC vs Mac (or Mac vs PC) debates are silly, as I’ve previously mentioned. But for new computer users, how do you make the choice between a Mac or a PC? Like a good geek, I try to do what I can to help you first time upcoming computer users make a complex decision as simple as possible:

No need to thank me, I’m happy to help any way I can.

Seriously though the issue is a complex one. What did you decide? Which do you use? PC? Mac? Linux? Etch-A-Sketch? Abacus? Commodore 64? Why did you choose what you’re using over the other choices out there? Or are you using a mix? Inquiring minds want to know what you use and why.

I have used a pc since the days of MS-DOS. A personal preference I guess. And unless Macs have a time when cheaper components make better pcs, I'm sticking with Mickeysoft pcs.

I'm very interested in the why people are using what they use. Not because I'm mystified but because I like hearing about it in their own words.

The reason I used PCs is simple. The flexibility, options and price. The security issues are easily remedied by anyone that want to know more than how to turn it on.

I'll have to agree with Vincent.

PC's are less expensive. Mom and Dad wouldn't spend the $$$ on a Mac ...
and now that I'm older .. I won't either. PC's can be upgraded easily.

I cannot tell you how bad it was before the switch to Intel chips watching my PC friends run anything they wanted much faster than I could if I could find anything equivalent. Like other Apple users we gamed on consoles. What really bit besides that was my friends could get a screaming smoking PC and a console for what I paid for my computer. There are advantages to owning a Mac, seriously there are especially if you grew up on it and their support is great BUT the whole "I'm superior because I have an Apple computer" mindset is total fantasy only believed by idiots. Unfortunately those idiots are a large part of my fellow Apple users which is way more frustrating than truthful fun that you blog about here. Loving it!

The earliest days of the Mac world were the highlight of stupidity. What shade of gray is blue on your monitor? What shade of gray is red on your monitor. Later every time Jobs would get game designers to spend some $$ on developing a few games for Apple computers a few months later the graphics chips, chipset and CPUs would change and all progress was lost to get games developed. Apple was always practically hostile to developers for gaming because they changed the hardware to incompatible architectures so often developers tossed their hands up and said we're not making that mistake again. Bye Apple.

Then there was the slow performance on custom chip debacle that plagued Apple computers for way too many years until the "game changer" of finally being forced to the same much faster and far less expensive chips Widows PCs and the rest of the world were using.

Unfortunately the you pay A HYSTERICALLY LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY for the user experience mindset really flies in the face of today's economy and that's why their market share will always be a tiny fraction of the market.

But the thing is despite their mistakes because they control everything from the hardware to making the OS; they make a lot of money on a small group of people; besides their non-computer business equates to them never having to wake up anytime soon.

There's no excuse for them not to have the best computer at the best price and take the world by storm. Although they could never handle supporting such popularity so that's another reason they're happy being so small. So many times they've screwed over their own customers with slow chips, lack of gaming and high prices it's almost incomprehensible that they still have customers. Until you realize all they have to keep ahead of those that leave with new customers which is pretty easy since they have so few customers compared to everyone else.
