There's No Substitute for a Real Book!

Screw Kindle eReaders and the iPad
The Best Way To Read a Book Is To Pick Up A Real One.

Don’t waste your time trying to read a book on a PC, Mac, Kindle, iFadPad, Sony whatever. You want to read a book, pick up a real one. Real books have the best resolution, texture, physical feel, intuitive interface and the greatest price/ performance ratio ever. No batteries or charging required. No dongles, accessories or parts needed. A book will last more than a few lifetimes with little to no care; the same will never be true with expensive, electronic gadgets that keep coming out trying to pretend they can compete with the real deal. They can’t.

Want E-book readers to be more popular? Give them away for free in cereal boxes and charge 1/2 the price of paperbacks for your e-books and maybe you might get more people to be stupid enough to try them. Even then, if “successful", you’ll be lucky to grab less than 1% of the market. If you’re very, very lucky. And even after the 20th generation of e-readers come out, the reading experience still won’t compare to the quality a physical book provides.

So shove those couple-hundred dollar limited electronic doo-dads up you’re wazoo. Books. They’re forever. E-ink, you stink! P-U! Books. They’re where it’s at. Putzes.

Anyone ever tried to read whole books on any of these things? *shudder* Ugh. Dummies.

And don't even get me started on audiobooks. I do admit some books are perfect for audiobooks, while others books are good for reading. Harry Potter comes to mind, perfect for reading. Eragon and the others in the series, just listen to them on audiobooks and you can find out what is happening.

My you are not afraid to tell it like it is with things are you? ;) There just is no substitute for a physical book! My family buys most of our books far cheaper than the cost of an average ebook and used books are 25-50 cents! No copy protection, no limitations and no high prices reader to read them required.

I think you're doing quite well on your year-long challenge to post quality entries, hon. I enjoy stopping by daily for the read. Your posts are filled with so much common sense, insight and honesty that's so rare on the commercial sites. And you're writing is superior to many paid writers out there in my opinion.

Surprised this blog isn't getting more tongues wagging. There should be a real buzz about what you're doing which is so much better than the norm of paid tech writers on paid sites. You're funny, bright and talented!

Keep it up, good things will be sure to follow!

PS I am not a friend or relative just an honest reader

I have a Kindle and although I like it I agree nothing can beat a real book! Thanks for being one that keeps it real. Rare find online these days!

Shannon: I really don't understand the need to make a crappier "alternative" to things. It by default is a failure no matter how long you try aka e-Readers.

As to audio books, some are cool. I like the ones that are voiced by the people from the movie such as Star Trek audio books. Not that I've ever listened to an audio-book all the way through. I won a Star Trek II audiobook at a convention once. Listened for a few minutes of Walter Koenig reading it, that was nice but reading a real book there's just no substitute. Gotta give it the full attention and experience with no distractions. Imagination is never to be under-rated in my book - haha pun. Punny.

Helena: thanks for the kind words. This challenge of mine is almost into the 4th month, it's been great and more people new people like you are enjoying spending time here, that's all the thanks I need. Publicity Schmicity! I write what I feel when I feel it, if people feel that puts me much more honest than paid gotta sell this make this sound exciting professionals out there blah blah blahers then that's fine by me.

Nathaniel: Thanks for being honest, we like that around here.

Goodnight folks!
